Wednesday 15 Sept:
8:00: Jerusalem Bus station
10:15: Beit Shean Bus Station
11:00 Border crossing to Jordan- Taxi ride (and hummus stop) through Jordan
16:00: Amman Airport- 4 hours to kill until flight, shared bottle of whisky to kill some time with Israeli travelling partners- not my thing, but then again- what is?
Thursday 16 Sept:
4:00: Arrive in Delhi (1:45 Israel time)
5:00: We take a room for few hours and go wander through Delhi before train at 11am.
9:00: Start talking to local guy who tells us flooding in Rishikesh and that we should change our plan, he takes us to “government tourist centre” who confirms his warning tells us to rearrange trip. We leave not sure what to do, 2 new guys finds us tells us same story-we must change plans, they take us to “real government tourist centre”..... Eventually we decide need find Chabad in Delhi in case need stay night and to contact Chabad Rishikesh. This leads to a treasure hunt through Delhi’s main Bazaar to try find the elusive address, eventually someone takes us to “the place where the Israelis are” which is empty and only opening at 11am.
10:45: We decide to go to Rishikesh anyway, and make a dash for 11:30 train.
11:35: Arrive at station.... missed train-wait for 2pm train.
13:35: Attempt to buy tickets, no one speaks English, price keeps changing, ticket seller think its platform 1 or 2, the train is at 2, 2:15 and 2:30 depending on which person we talk to. Eventually we buy tickets only to spend the next hour and a half running from platform to platform as every person tells us a different platform. (All this time we have been the only foreigners...did we get something wrong, should it have been this complicated?)
15:45: The 2 or 2:15 or 2:30 train eventually arrives!
21:00: Arrive in Haridwa
21:30 Take local bus to Rishikesh
11:00 Arrive in Rishikesh- take Rikshaw to Hostel, (watch cow fight on the way while locals try throw water on them to get them out of the road).
11:30 Arrive at hostel- closed, relocate to Blessed hostel, (not that blessed)- day one complete!
